Latest statistics published by the Information Commissioner's Office show that the Health sector continues to top the list for the number of incidents being reported – 19% of all the incidents reported in the third quarter of 2023. The statistics also showed that information being emailed to the wrong recipient was the most common type of incident reported – 17% of all incidents reported in the same period.
The ICO recently published details of a reprimand issued to the South Tees Hospitals Trust last month for a “serious, harmful” data breach when an appointment letter was sent to the wrong address.
